Community Gig is a local marketplace. We collect as little as we can to run it. This page is for people in New York and the rest of the United States.
What we collect
- Email address, so we can send a sign-in link and talk about your gigs.
- Name, neighborhood, ZIP, and the short bio you write.
- Gigs you post, bids you place, and messages after a connection.
- Payment records from Stripe if you pay a 50¢ post fee or a $2 connection fee. We do not store full credit card numbers.
How we use it
To run the board: show your posts, show bids, connect you with the neighbor you pick, and keep spam down. We do not sell your information. We do not build advertising profiles.
Who sees what
Other people on the site see your name, neighborhood, bio, and public gig details. Email stays private until a poster accepts a bid. Then the two of you can see each other’s email so you can finish the job.
Cookies
We use a signed session cookie so you stay signed in. We also set a durable anonymous visitor cookie (cg_vid) so we can count unique people on the site, today and over the last month, and which gig pages they open. It is not tied to your name or email, and we do not show IP addresses on the owner dashboard. We do not use Google Analytics. Stripe may set cookies on their checkout pages.
Your rights
You can update your profile in the app. If you want your account deleted, email hello@communitygig.com from the address you signed up with. New York residents can also ask what we hold and ask us to delete it under the New York SHIELD Act spirit and, where it applies, similar US state privacy laws.
Kids
Community Gig is for adults. If you are under 18, please don’t create an account.
