Community Gig

Terms of use

Last updated September 1, 2026 · New York law

Community Gig is a reverse-auction board for everyday local work. These terms are the agreement between you and Klentel LLC (doing business as Community Gig) when you use communitygig.com. New York law governs this agreement, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

The short version

You post or bid in good faith. You pay the neighbor directly for the work. We charge small platform fees (five free posts, then 50¢ to post; $2 when a poster accepts a bid). We host the board. We are not your employer, not an escrow, and not a party to the job. You choose who you meet and you take on that neighbor risk.

Who we are

The operator is Klentel LLC, doing business as Community Gig. Mailing address: 16 Railroad Place #1140, Westport, CT 06880. Email: hello@communitygig.com.

A board, not a job

Community Gig is a notice board. We show posts and bids so neighbors can find each other. We are not a party to any gig. We are not an employer, staffing agency, contractor, or agent for either side. We do not hire the bidder, employ the poster, or supervise the work. Payment for the job is between you and the other person. We never hold that money and we are not an escrow.

Neighbor risk

You decide who you message, meet, hire, or work for. Neighbors can be late, no-shows, or dishonest. Work can be done poorly. People can get hurt and property can get damaged. You assume that risk. Meet in public when you can. Trust your gut. If a job feels off, walk away. We do not run background checks and we do not guarantee anyone will show up or pay.

Accounts

You need a real email. You must be 18 or older to create an account, post, bid, or message. Keep your sign-in link to yourself. Don’t impersonate a neighbor. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it.

Gigs and bids

Post honest jobs. Bid a price you can stand behind. A poster may pick any bid, not only the lowest. Once a bid is accepted and the $2 connection fee is paid, you two handle the work, timing, and payment for the job. We are not in that conversation as a party to the work.

Fees

Joining, browsing, and bidding are free. The first five gig posts on an account are free. After that, publishing a gig costs $0.50. Accepting a bid costs a $2 connection fee. An optional mutual ID check costs $3 and is a Stripe Identity photo-ID match, not a background check. Community Pros include that check on the existing Pro path. We do not take a percentage of what you pay the neighbor. Those platform fees are processed by Stripe. They are not refundable once the listing is live or the connection is made, except where law requires otherwise. A refund of a platform fee, if one is required, does not unwind the job between neighbors.

Prohibited posts

Don’t post or bid on illegal work. Don’t list housing as a landlord rental. Don’t sell regulated goods such as guns, drugs, alcohol, or prescription medication. Don’t offer sexual services. Don’t harass, scam, or impersonate anyone. Don’t ask someone to skip a license the work actually requires. If it would be a problem on a neighborhood bulletin board, it doesn’t belong here.

Takedown

We can take down a gig, hide a bid, suspend messaging, or close an account if we think it harms neighbors, breaks these terms, or puts the board at risk. We do not have to give advance notice. Taking something down does not mean we reviewed everything else, and leaving something up is not an endorsement.

The site as-is

The service is provided as-is. Software has bugs. Listings can be wrong or outdated. Features can change. We do not promise uninterrupted access, error-free software, or that the board will always work the way you expect.

Liability

To the fullest extent New York law allows, Community Gig and Klentel LLC are not liable for disputes between neighbors, property damage, personal injury, missed jobs, unpaid work, or lost money on a gig. Our total liability related to the app is limited to the fees you paid us in the last six months.

If a claim lands on us

If a job, post, bid, message, or meeting leads to a claim against Community Gig or Klentel LLC because of something you did, you cover us for that claim, including reasonable legal fees. That includes claims from the other neighbor, a third party, or a government agency. We will tell you if we are asking you to cover a claim.

Changes

We can update these terms. The “last updated” date at the top will change. If you keep using the site after that, you are agreeing to the new version. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
